Circular Economy
through “Pacto”
Oechsle seeks to transform the traditional retail business model for a more sustainable model, with a zero waste approach, by two work fronts:
- Rescue and donation of textile waste to transform it and give garments a second life.
- Recycling of plastic waste from our stores to manufacture new products.
As of the 2023 year-end, the program had been deployed in 10 stores in Greater Lima and in our Distribution Center, impacting on the creation of employment for 11 inmates of the Women’s Correctional Facility “Mujeres de Chorrillos” and 6 inmates of the Lurigancho Correctional Facility, with a total of 600 repurposed garments and 300 kg of reused plastic from our operations, with which Oeschle manufactured 400 merchandising products for its own use.
This program generates a three-pronged impact:
- Environmental, by reducing waste generation and promoting circularity;
- social, generating decent work and income to vulnerable populations;
- and economic, contributing to the sustainability of the textile industry.
